SUNNY GYMNASTICS
It all started when…
Sunny Gymnastics opened in 2022 as Johns Island’s first dedicated gymnastics training center. Our program offers introductory classes for preschoolers, recreational gymnastics for beginner through intermediate athletes, and competitive team opportunities for experienced gymnasts.
Our recreational classes are organized by age to support each child’s physical, social, and emotional readiness. Classes have a positive, low-pressure atmosphere centered on individual growth and personal bests. Athletes develop skills on vault, bars, beam, trampoline, and floor while building strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. All gymnastics foundations are taught in the correct progression to support safe, long-term development.
Our experienced and welcoming staff members are SafeSport certified and committed to creating a space where every child feels encouraged. Recreational classes maintain strict teacher-to-student ratios and may fill quickly.
For athletes ready for a greater challenge, our competitive gymnastics teams offer the opportunity to advance their skills and compete throughout the season. Team placement requires strong listening skills, discipline, coachability, and a consistent work ethic. Athletes are typically invited from our recreational program, although evaluations are available for gymnasts with previous competitive experience.
Our competitive program serves athletes ages 7–14, through eighth grade, and includes AAU levels Copper through Advanced Gold. Depending on their level, team athletes train approximately three to six hours per week over two or three days. Teams attend primarily local competitions, with a few optional meets located within approximately two hours of Johns Island each season.
At Sunny Gymnastics, we focus on developing the whole athlete through positive coaching and a growth mindset. Whether gymnastics is part of your child’s life for one season or their entire childhood, our goal is for them to find joy in the sport while growing stronger, more confident, and proud of what they can accomplish.
